It was a damp and dark winter afternoon.
The lights brought:

- A feeling of hope.
They help make the area feel more welcoming as Christmas approaches.
A message from the Residents’ Association
After the lights were switched on, the Chair of the Clonskeagh Residents’ Association, Philip Tierney, spoke to those who attended.
He said:
- Another year is coming to an end
- Once again, we have turned on the Clonskeagh Christmas Lights
- The lights shine in these dark winter days
- They bring a little magic, especially for children and
- They help people feel excited for the coming Christmas holidays.
He wished everyone a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a Prosperous and Healthy New Year. He thanked everyone for coming.
