More substantial changes are planned for a nearby road you are likely to use—but if you don’t speak up now, you’ll live with the outcome. Here’s what’s proposed and how it could affect you.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is planning more substantial changes to St Columbanus Road that may affect you. These new changes follow on from an earlier Public Consultation last April-May.
The goal is to make the road safer, look better, and improve how parking works.
The plan covers St. Columbanus Road from its Dundrum Road junction to the nearest entrance to Our Lady’s National School.
The work will include:
- A rain garden
- New trees
- Bollards to stop unsafe and illegal parking
- Clearly marked parking spaces (not the current open parking)
- Disabled parking spaces
- Zebra crossing on St Columbanus Road near the school and
- A raised area a the Dundrum Road junction to help people to cross more easily
When finished, it is expected St Columbanus Road will be safer, greener, and easier to use for everyone in the community.
NOTE: This upgrade will connect with an improved route through Mulvey Park, Beechmount Drive and Gledswood Park. The route will connect with the Roebuck Road Cycle Scheme. That Scheme delivered an improved road and cycleway from Leinster Lawn to the Roebuck Road-Goatstown Road junction in 2023.
This new public consultation closes on 7 September next.
