Free cycling events are happening near you—but most locals won’t take advantage. Here’s what’s on during Bike Week and how to make the most of it.

National Bike Week runs from Saturday 9 May to Sunday 17 May.

It is a time to enjoy cycling and learn about its benefits. Cycling is good for your health, saves money, and helps the environment.

There will be many events across the country during the week.

In Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, you can join a range of free bike events.

They include:

  • A show of bikes you can use, including accessible bikes
  • A heritage cycle tour
  • Free bike safety checks and giveaways
  • Introductory mountain biking sessions and tours
  • “Bike Bop” – a fun event about bikes and nature
  • A cycling treasure hunt
